The best way to get help is to first check with your partner. Secondly, you can check with your team. Thirdly, only after you have done these other things, you may seek help from Ms. Austerman. If the classroom setting allows, you can ask in class. If it is better for you, you can come and see Ms. Austerman after class and after school. If the classroom door is open, then she is available for help.
What happens if I am absent for a long period of time?
If students know that they are going to be absent, they can ask for work in advance from Ms. Austerman. If you do not know that you will be gone, when you return, check the Student Center. It is at the Student Center that student can get the missing pages from their current unit. They can check with their team to get assistance on catching up. After checking at the student center and with at least one other classmate, then students can check with Ms. Austerman if they still have questions.
What do I need to bring to class everyday?
Students should always have their binder or a folder that keeps their packet neatly organized. Students must always have a writing utensil with them at all times.You should always have your calendar, and current unit packet with you.
What happens if I am texting in class?
Cell phone are not allowed in class. If you have your cell phone out in class you will receive a warning and be told to put your cell phone away immediately. Subsequent incidents will result in your cell phone being sent to the office for parent pick up after school.
What happens if I have missing or incomplete work?
Students will have the opportunity to redo missing or incomplete assignments. You must follow the policy to earn full credit. You need to submit an “Oops…My Bad!” sheet for missing and incomplete assignments. You have until the designated completion date to resubmit their assignment. If you do not resubmit their work on time during the re-submission process, then you will be asked to complete it during Academic Lunch Lab (ALL) or After School Intervention (ASI). Incomplete and missing work will follow the three strikes policy. Strike One is the student’s responsibility and warning. Strike Two will result in a parent phone call and/or email home. Strike Three will result in a parent, student, and teacher conference.
What happens if I miss a test?
If you miss a test, you need to arrange to take it during office hours.
What happens if I fail a test?
If you fail a test, you need to plan to retake it. In order to retake the test, you must complete a "Request to Retest" form that is located at the front of the classroom at the Student Center. After following the steps on the form, you can turn it in to Ms. Austerman's mailbox located at her desk in the back of the room. You need to schedule a time to take the test with Ms. Austerman.
